Run Club of the Week - Optimistic Runners

Run Clubs

Hi friends 👋

You know I’ve been on a mission to explore the best run clubs Berlin has to offer. This week, we're shining light on The First Club That Made Me Fall in Love with Running

When people ask me which run club in Berlin feels like home, my heart always goes back to Optimistic Runners. It’s not just another run club—it’s the first club I ever joined when I moved to Berlin, and it completely changed my relationship with running.

Led by the one and only Brice, Optimistic Runners is a burst of energy, joy, and community spirit. Whether you’re a beginner, a casual runner, or simply someone looking to find movement through connection, this is the kind of club where you show up once—and you’re instantly part of the family.

I had the privilege to talk to Brice about the run club and the community: Watch the interview

1️⃣ Vibe & Community (4.75/5)

The vibe is truly unmatched.

From the moment you arrive, Brice makes you feel like you belong. His funny jokes, positive energy, and constant encouragement keep you moving (and smiling) through the entire run.

The club has an official chant—when Brice shouts “When I say optimistic, you say…” the group roars back “RUNNERS!” It’s the kind of call-and-response that gives you goosebumps, especially as you run through the streets together.

People here are warm, open, and supportive. Whether it’s your first 5K or you’ve run marathons before, you’ll find your place.

2️⃣ Route & Scenery (5/5)

One of the special things about Optimistic Runners is that the route and distance change every week.

Some days you’ll run through vibrant urban streets, other days you’ll weave through scenic parks. The pace is social and adaptable to all fitness levels, which makes it super beginner-friendly.

This flexibility adds an element of surprise and keeps the experience fresh. Occasionally, depending on the location, traffic lights can break the rhythm a bit, but honestly—it’s all part of the Berlin running charm.

3️⃣ Training & Structure (3.75/5)

The run always starts with a structured warm-up—one of the best parts of the session, if you ask me. It’s well-led, gets the group moving, and builds a sense of team before the run even begins.

While this isn’t a technical or performance-focused club (you won’t find intervals or drills here), it’s designed to get people moving, enjoying, and staying consistent. Brice often shares practical running tips and mindset advice in a casual, approachable way. Perfect for those starting out or returning to running.

4️⃣ Facilities & Perks (4.5/5)

Optimistic Runners meets at the OR Store in Mitte, conditioned with bag drop and toilets. Post-run water and coffee is usually provided, and while snacks aren't always provided, the vibe is so good you won’t miss them. Pro tip: there’s amazing specialty coffee stores and breakfast places in the area.

The perk here is the sense of belonging and Brice’s endless positive energy. It’s less about physical perks and more about emotional ones.

5️⃣ Uniqueness & Identity (4.75/5)

Optimistic Runners stands out for its unapologetically positive identity.

It’s not just a run club—it’s a movement born from the Optimistic Runners apparel brand created by Andrei, which gives the club extra personality and cohesion. The chant, the flag, and the weekly changing routes all contribute to the club’s unique spirit. Moreover, the club often host events in partnership with brands like HOKA, and other special events like races and other cool projects.

Brice’s leadership makes this club truly one-of-a-kind. His ability to mix humor, motivation, and genuine care sets the tone for the whole community.

Bonus: the club will celebrate its second anniversary this July—and I can’t wait to be there to celebrate it.

Final thoughts: Is Optimistic Runners Worth Joining?

If you’re looking for a club that feels like family from day one, this is it. Optimistic Runners is more than just a run, it’s a vibe, a community, and a place where every pace is welcome. Strong on community, energy, and inclusivity. Slightly fewer training perks, but the heart of the club is unbeatable.

If you love running for joy, meeting amazing people, and building genuine connections, Optimistic Runners will quickly feel like home.

Final Score: ⭐️ 4.55/5
