Run Club of the Week - On Run Club

Run Clubs

Running clubs are more than just about fitness—they’re about community, experience, and post-run vibes. This week, I joined ON Run Club in Berlin for their 1-Year Anniversary Celebration, and here’s my deep dive into what makes this club stand out! Watch the video here

1️⃣ Vibe & Community (5/5)

Running with ON felt friendly, inclusive, and social from the start. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular, you’ll feel welcome. The atmosphere is chill and social, not overly competitive—perfect for runners looking for a supportive group without the pressure of performance.

  • Friendliness & Inclusivity: They welcome new runners with open arms. If you’re nervous about joining, don’t be!
  • Energy & Atmosphere: More about connecting than racing. You’ll find runners chatting before, during, and after the run.
  • Runner Mix: Very beginner-friendly, with soft wins and no intimidation.
  • Post-Run Social Aspect: People stay, chat, and enjoy snacks instead of just running and leaving. Usually they have snacks post-run. In this occasion, we got delicious pizza and raffle made the event feel like a true celebration!

2️⃣ Route & Scenery (3.75/5)

The route follows the same path each time, running along the Spree River. While the scenery is nice, a little variety would be a great touch.

  • Variety: Same route each session.
  • Scenery: Running by the river at night, with Berlin’s city lights reflecting on the water.
  • Safety: Well-lit paths, minimal traffic, and smooth surfaces.
  • Accessibility: Super easy to get to—located in Mitte, near S-Bahn Hackescher Markt and U5 Weinmeisterstraße.

3️⃣ Training & Structure (4.5/5)

The runs are well-organized, with clear structure and pacing options.

  • Pacing Options: Two pace groups (5:30/km and 6:30/km) cater to different levels.
  • Workout Variety: Mostly casual runs, but they sometimes organize long runs and special weekend events.
  • Coach & Leader Quality: Led by Bjorn, an experienced coach and athlete.
  • Warm-Up & Cool-Down: Yes, they make time for both—essential for injury prevention!

4️⃣ Facilities & Perks (3.75/5)

ON Run Club provides solid perks for runners, making the experience smooth and enjoyable.

  • Bag Drop/Storage: Secure and hassle-free.
  • Water Stations: Post-run hydration available.
  • Bathrooms/Showers: No facilities nearby, which is the only downside.
  • Brand Support & Gear Access: ON sponsors the runs, allowing participants to test their shoes—a big plus if you’re curious about their gear!

5️⃣ Uniqueness & Identity (3.75/5)

What makes ON Run Club different? Their consistent events, special collaborations, and open-to-all policy.

  • Traditions & Rituals: No specific chants or hype rituals.
  • Club Personality: More about community and brand engagement than a specific niche like trail or nightlife running.
  • Events & Experiences: They organize special events, collabs with other Run Clubs like CNDO, adding to the community feel.
  • Exclusivity vs. Openness: Fully open—anyone can join! No membership or sign-ups required.

Final Thoughts: Is ON Run Club Worth Joining?

Absolutely! If you’re looking for a social, beginner-friendly run club with solid structure and perks, ON Run Club delivers. The community vibe, great shoes to test, and fun post-run hangouts make it a great choice for both new and experienced runners.

Final Score: ⭐️ 4.2/5
